A CRH bullet train arrived at Zhangjiajie West Station on November 19. It marked that the Qianjiang-Zhangjiajie-Changde Railway has accomplished the debugging task, and starts test run.

The railway starts from Qianjiang Station of the Chongqing-Huaihua Railway, and runs through Qianjiang District in Chongqing, Xianfeng and Laifeng counties in Hubei, and Longshan and Sangzhi counties and Yongding District in Hunan’s Xiangxi prefecture.

It connects with Jiaozuo-Liuzhou Railway in Zhangjiajie, stretches eastward to Taoyuan County, and comes to its destination in Changde.

The main track is 336.257 km long, with a design speed of 200 km/h. There are 15 stations, among which 9 are passenger stations. In addition to the existing Qianjiang and Changde stations, there are 7 new – Xianfeng, Laifeng, Longshan North, Sangzhi, Zhangjiajie West, Niuchehe, and Taoyuan stations.

The constructers overcame the challenges caused by diverse landforms along the railway and complicated engineering geology and hydrogeology, and used advanced mechanical equipment to ensure smooth progress of the construction.

As scheduled, the railway will open to traffic at the end of this year. Bullet trains will run to Xiangxi and Zhangjiajie for the first time, which will facilitate coordinated economic and social development in Wuling Mountain area, and be significant to implementing the national strategic measures of large-scale development of western China and rise of central China.
