On November 15, the 2019 OTOP International Commodities Expo and the fourth National Development Conference for Ethnic Regions opened in Changsha. Zheng Jianbang, vice chairman of the 13th CPPCC National Committee opened the expo. Before the opening ceremony, Xu Dazhe, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, met with foreign guests and visited the exhibition hall.

Former Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, former South Korean Prime Minister Lee Soo-Sung, Mongolian People's Party Central Committee Vice President Ganbaatar, Myanmar Ambassador to China U Myo Thant Pe, Ethiopian Ambassador to China Teshome Toga, Montenegrin Ambassador to China Darko Pajovic, and Hunan provincial leaders Hu Henghua and He Baoxiang attended the opening ceremony.

Governor Xu Dazhe welcomed foreign guests. He said that 2019 is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and that Chairman Mao Zedong, the founder of New China, was born in Shaoshan, Xiangtan, Hunan. Located in the south of Dongting Lake, Hunan is a large agricultural province. Hybrid rice developed by Academician Yuan Longping benefits the Chinese people and makes outstanding contributions to the world’s food supply. Hunan is also a multi-ethnic province. Different ethnic cultures provide a large selection of Hunan's specialty products, and products with local characteristics have emerged, such as Anhua dark tea. Anhua was an important station for the ancient tea-horse road.

Governor Xu noted that Hunan is implementing a rural revitalization strategy, developing towns with one featured product, promoting local agricultural development, and increasing the popularity and availability of specialty products, in order to facilitate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

Xu added that the 2019 OTOP Expo theme was “One Belt, One Road, and One World; One Town, One Product, and One Dream”. It established a platform for open cooperation and mutual benefit sharing for ‘Belt and Road’ countries and regions. He hoped that friends from all over the world will take this opportunity to invest in Hunan, continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation with Hunan, expand economic and trade contacts, strengthen cultural exchanges, and make new contributions to building a community of shared future for mankind.

Bronislaw Komorowski hoped that more Polish enterprises would be supported by the China Council for the Promotion of National Trade (CCPNT) and that more Polish products would be promoted in China. He expected that Poland and China will share opportunities for cooperation and create a new situation of integrated development.

Lee Soo-Sung said that implementing China's ‘One Town One Product’ industry promotion plan has created a larger space for worldwide inter-regional exchanges and cooperation and expanded ways to meet the global demand for high-quality products and strengthen non-governmental economic and trade exchanges.

A signing ceremony for investment cooperation projects was held at the opening ceremony, with a total investment of more than 40 billion CNY.

The three-day expo was jointly sponsored by CCPNT, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China Chamber of International Commerce, and the Changsha Municipal People's Government. A total of 4,500 companies from 38 countries and regions participated.
