Secretary Du Leads CPC Delegation to Luxembourg

Du Jiahao, member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, at the invitation of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, led a CPC delegation to visit that country between November 10 and 12, 2019. The delegates met with Luxembourg political parties, parliament, government, and business community representatives. They held talks and reached a broad consensus on promoting a continuous development of China-Luxembourg relations and a deepening of communication and cooperation between the Hunan and Luxembourg governments and enterprises and achieved fruitful results.
 
Secretary Du met with: Fernand Etgen, president of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg; François Bausch, deputy prime minister and minister of Defence, Mobility, and Public Works; and, Marc Angel, chairman of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Defense, Cooperation and Immigration of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg. He introduced Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the spirits of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. There were in-depth talks on further developing relations between the parties and countries; building a community with a shared future for mankind; maintaining multilateralism; China's reform and opening up policy; promoting sister-city establishment and economic and cultural cooperation.
 
Du remarked that Luxembourg is a founding member of the European Union and an important promoter of European integration. He expected Luxembourg to keep playing an active role in China-EU cooperation; further strengthen mutual strategic communication; enhance political mutual trust; and, work together to promote the “Belt and Road” initiative, so as to promote new and greater achievements in the building of China-Luxembourg and China-EU relations.
 
Luxembourg officials spoke highly of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, congratulated on the successful convening of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, and gave a “thumbs-up” to China’s achievements made in the past 70 years. They were willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries; consolidate the development of traditional friendship; and, strengthen economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges with Hunan.
 
Huang Changqing, Chinese ambassador to Luxembourg, met with the delegation and accompanied them on the tour.
 
On November 12, the delegation left Luxembourg to visit Norway.
