Yao People Celebrate Panwang Festival in Hunan

Between November 11 and 15, Yao people from Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and Hunan gathered in Hunan’s Jianghua Yao Autonomous County to celebrate Panwang Festival, a traditional festival of Yao ethnic group. 
With a history of more than 1,700 years, Panwang Festival is a major festival for Yao people to worship their ancestor Pan Hu. The festival alternates its location in 13 counties (cities, districts) of Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi. Yao people at home and abroad attach great importance to the event, which has become their grand traditional festival and unique national cultural activity.
Twenty-four activities are held during the five-day festival, including 
--opening ceremony; 
--real-scene drama premiere; 
--worshipping ceremony to mark Yao ancestor Panwang; 
--wedding custom presentation of Yao ethnic group; 
--agricultural tourism products and food expo; and, 
--symposium on Chinese Yao culture inheritage and development.
