On May 3, throngs of tourists visited Hunan scenic spots. As of 16:30 on May 3, more than 6.59 million trips were made in Hunan’s 130 provincially-monitored scenic spots between May 1 and 3, up 36.75% compared to the previous year. This brought a revenue of 436 million CNY, an increase of 30.39%. The number of visitors at Yuelu Academy, Orange Isle, and Shaoshan Scenic Spot was beyond the maximum daily capacity. However, Hunan’s tourism market was in stable operation, without major tourism complaint during the holiday.
On May 3, Yuelu Academy received 12,800 trips, 2,800 more than the maximum daily capacity. The tourism revenue increased by 31.52%, to 872,000 CNY, from May 1 and 3, according to the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.
Orange Isle’s maximum daily capacity is 80,000 visits. The actual number reached 99,000 on May 3. “The pressure on the scenic spot is very large,” said the person in charge of the scenic spot. In order to meet tourists’ needs, ensure their safety, and maintain order, the scenic spot has set up a team to address emergencies and meet tourists’ urgent needs. It organized more security forces and sightseeing buses to lower the pressure brought by crowds. Timely information was released to help visitors to alter their itinerary.
Shaoshan has become the most-visit scenic spot for two consecutive days. From May 1 to 3, it received a total of 318,900 trips, an increase of 12.36%.
During May Day holiday, except for Zhuzhou City, the average occupancy rate of restaurants and hotels in Hunan’s 12 cities and one prefecture exceeded 90%.
