CHANGSHA, April 8 (Xinhua) -- A central Chinese city shared its COVID-19 treatment experience via a video conference with the Brazilian city Guarulhos on Wednesday.

Nine experts and officials from Yiyang, five officials from Guarulhos and two staff from the Brazil-China Economic and Cultural Development Association, attended the conference.

As the two cities signed the MOU of twins cities last year, Guarulhos contacted Yiyang via the Brazil-China Economy and Culture Development Association, hoping to hold an online meeting to learn experience in the COVID-19 treatment.

Guarulhos, a city in Brazil’s San Paulo state, now faces several challenges such as equipment shortage, and the relatively low accuracy of nucleic acid testing due to the COVID-19 outbreak, while in Yiyang, the epidemic has been well controlled and all the 60 confirmed patients had been discharged from hospital by March 8.

Xie Lizhi, the chief physician of Yiyang Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced the city's major measures and accomplishments of community prevention and control experience to the Brazilian city.

Meanwhile, the Brazilian officials asked experts in Yiyang about the temporary closure of schools, the impact of seasonal differences between the northern and southern hemispheres, and the impact of the epidemic on the local economy.

Li Yong, head of the city's medical team which had participated in the battle against COVID-19 in Hubei Province, answered the questions about measuring body temperature in public places and the body temperature standards demanding further medical treatment.

Li suggested that the protection of medical workers should be strengthened. Patients with mild and severe symptoms should be classified.

The Brazilian officials expressed their gratitude to the Chinese experts for sharing their experience. They hoped that the two sides could keep in touch and have more cooperation.
