A meeting with representatives of central China's Hunan Province was held in Beijing on Thursday, with the special goal of introducing the province to the world. Diplomats from more than 130 countries and international organizations, as well as entrepreneurs from some of the world's top companies participated in the event, titled the Hunan Province Global Introduction Meeting. Hunan is an inland province in central China with an area of 210,000 square kilometers and a population of 73 million.

Hunan was the home province of late Chairman Mao Zedong, and many other politicians and revolutionaries of New China. While it has a long history as an agricultural province, science and technology now contribute to one quarter of Hunan's total GDP.
