The China (Hunan) – Ghana Economic and Trade Fair was launched in Changsha on November 24, 2017. It aimed to carry out China’s massive plan of 10 major cooperation projects in Africa, strengthen China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, and provide more investment and collaborative platforms for Chinese and Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
The First Lady of Ghana Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, and Ghanaian Ambassador-designated to China Mr. Edward Boateng were present and delivered addresses.
China and Africa enjoys an increasingly closer developing relationship in recent years. Africa has become an important partner for Hunan. As of this July, there were 110 Hunan enterprises settled in Africa, with a contracted investment of 750 million USD.
Hunan and Ghanaian enterprise representatives had in-depth discussions. Sany representative talked about their “going global” experience under the circumstance of the national “Belt and Road” Initiative. Ghanaian Deputy Minister of Finance Mrs. Abena Osei-Asare introduced Ghana’s investment laws and regulatory framework.
The China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hunan Sub-Council signed a MoU of cooperation with the Association of Ghana Industries. They will enhance communication to promote Hunan-Ghana economic, sci-tech, cultural, and investment cooperation. The Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center and the Kumasi Agricultural Product Research Institution signed a MoU of cooperation in hybrid rice development and cooperation, in order to facilitate application and industrial production of the research results, and promote the two countries’ paddy production.
This Fair is co-organized by the CCPIT Hunan Sub-Council and the Ghanaian Embassy in China. More than 300 people participated, including Ghanaian dignitaries, representatives of the Ghanaian institutes in China, Ghana’s enterprise executives in medicine, logistics, building industry, petroleum, and infrastructure construction, as well as Chinese enterprise delegates.
