Main Responsibilities:
Hunan Disabled Person's Federation is a regional branch of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, which is a unified organization that serves all disabled people. It is the combination of an organization that represents the disabled, a social welfare association and an administrative body.
1. To carry out and implement the guidelines, policies, laws and regulations concerning the disabled persons of the Party and State; to assist the government to draft policies, rules and regulations concerning the disabled in Hunan.
2. To listen to the voice of the disabled and report their needs; to safeguard the rights and interests of the disabled and provide services for the disabled.
3. To unite and educate the disabled to abide by the laws; to educate the disabled to perform their duties and to carry on the spirit of initiative and optimism; to strengthen their self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance and self-improvement, so as to make contributions to the socialist construction.
4. To carry forward humanism and publicize the cause of the disabled; to enhance better communication between government, society and the disabled; to mobilize the whole society to understand, respect, care for and help the disabled.
5. To develop undertakings concerning disabled person's rehabilitation, education, employment, culture, sports, scientific research, commodity supply, welfare, social services, obstacle-free facilities and prevention of disability; to create better environmental conditions for the disabled; to help the disabled to participate in society with equal status and opportunities.
6. To assist the government to study, formulate and implement programmes and plans for the cause of the disabled; to guide and manage professional work in relevant areas; to undertake the daily routines of the Coordinating Committee for the Disabled-related Work of the Provincial Government; to handle the work of synthesis, organization, coordination and service; to direct and administer different organizations of the disabled; to develop international exchanges and cooperation concerning the cause of the disabled.
