Recently the Ministry of Transport issued a work plan on promoting the implementation of major transportation projects under the 14th Five-year Plan. The move aimed to support in-advance investment in a moderate way in transportation infrastructure, and implement a number of leading and basic transportation projects of overall and strategic significance. The Changsha Huanghua Airport Comprehensive Passenger Transport Hub Project was among the first batch of key projects to accelerate the building of China into a transportation powerhouse during the 14th Five-year Plan period.

The Changsha Huanghua Airport Comprehensive Passenger Transport Hub Project is an important carrier to build the Changsha Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, and a regional hub airport and a large-scale airport. A 500,000-square-meter Terminal 3 and a 152-seat apron will be newly built to serve a passenger throughput of 60 million visits and an annual cargo and mail throughput of 600,000 tons by 2023.

Relying on the construction of Terminal 3, the project will be connected with the airport stations along the Chongqing-Changsha-Xiamen High-speed Railway, the Changsha Maglev Express Line, and the Changsha Metro Line 6. It is a highway-railway-aviation comprehensive passenger hub. The project is seamlessly integrated with the Terminal 3. Upon completion, Changsha Huanghua International Airport will integrate 4 kinds of ground transportation means and 4 kinds of rail ones, becoming one of the airports with the most transportation modes in China. Passengers can take taxis, airport buses, long-distance buses, social vehicles, metro trains, maglev trains, intercity trains, high-speed trains and other means of transportation in the same building within a five-minute walk.
