On April 16, the Hunan government announced the directory of key projects for Hunan’s foreign trade and economic cooperation in 2021. There were a total of 27 projects worth more than 47 billion yuan, involving industry, agricultural industrial parks, transportation, and commercial services.

The Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce selected the directory from major projects that have been identified as key ones for foreign investment cooperation in the past two years and that have been included in the province’s "going global" project database. Of the total, there were 8 foreign investment projects, mainly involving industry, agricultural industrial parks, industrial parks and zones, energy, and equipment; there were 19 foreign contracted projects, mainly involving electric power, water conservancy, infrastructure, transportation, and commercial services.

Li Xinqiu, deputy director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Commerce, stated that in 2021, Hunan will take the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement as a breakthrough point to carry out "industrial park + group + investment-construction-operation integration" cooperation in ASEAN countries. This will help key enterprises engaged in agriculture, construction machinery, rail transit, biomedicine, energy, and electric power "go global".

The 2021 key foreign economic cooperation project promotion conference was held. Seven companies, including Friendship International Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. and Longping Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., made a presentation of seven key projects to seek partners, including the Uganda Hunan Industrial Park project and the China-Brazil Agricultural Science and Technology Park project.
