  About Forum

Overview

China is the largest developing country in the world. China's central government and local authorities have been attaching increasingly greater importance to the environmental protection for a long time, vigorously facilitating energy conservation and emission reduction and handling the climate change for the sustainable development of economy and society. At the end of 2007, Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan city cluster in Hunan was approved as State Pilot Zone for Building a Resource-conserving and Environmentally Friendly Society. To make Hunan better known, to gain more cooperative support from home and abroad, and to publicize and share the golden business opportunity brought about by this pilot program, the Hunan Provincial People's Government, relevant state ministries and UN institutions, draw up to hold an International Co-operation Forum on Resource and Environment on the Orange Islet of Changsha in April, 2009.

Subject Matter

The Forum will take Building a Resource-conserving and Environmentally Friendly Society as its main subject and focus on discussion and exchange on environmental protection, climate change and new energy. A plenary session on Building a Resource-conserving and Environmentally Friendly Society and two parallel sub-sessions respectively on Environmentally Friendly Technology and Industry and Energy Saving, Pollution Reduction and Corporate Responsibility will be arranged during the Forum. In the end, the Environmental Protection©{Xiangjiang River Declaration will be issued.
The Forum's subject word is Our World, Our Life.

Period and Venue

The Forum will take place on April 17th ¨C 18th, 2009, on the Orange Islet, Changsha, Hunan.

Scale of Participation

It's expected to invite totally 300 representatives to participate in the Forum, including
- Officials from UN and other international organizations, CEOs of famous multinational companies, foreign government officials, overseas scholars and experts in related fields (about 150)
- Leaders and officials from concerned ministries and commissions of the State Council, PRC, CEOs from top Chinese enterprises, domestic scholars and experts in concerned fields (about 150)
