Central South University

Central South University was a merger of three separate universities in April 2000: Hunan Medical University (1914), Changsha Railway University (1953) and Central South University of Technology (1952). Covering an area of 392.4 hectares, including construction area of 2.76 million square meters, Central South University lies cross the Xiangjiang River, sitting at the foot of the majestic Yuelu Mountain, and is considered as an ideal university for study and research with picturesque view and peaceful environment. 
 
Central South University boasts a large variety of disciplines, including engineering, science, medicine, literature, law, economics, management, philosophy,art and even military science. It has six national key disciplines in the first category, 12 in the second category, as well as 1 national key discipline (in development) and 61 national key clinical specialties. CSU consists of 31 colleges, offering a total of 104 bachelor programs. Furthermore, there are29 first-category disciplines being conferred in doctoral degrees, and 44 in master degrees, and also there are 32 post-doc exchange centers. In addition, 13 fields of education including materials science, engineering, clinical medicine, chemistry,pharmacology and toxicology, biology and biochemistry, neuroscience and behavior, mathematics, computer science, molecular biology and genetics rank the top 1 percent of Essential Science Indicators (ESI). CSU also has three first-rate hospitals known as Xiangya Hospital, the Second Xiangya Hospital and the Third Xiangya Hospital. It also has Xiangya Stomatology Hospital. 
 
Focusing on strategies of strengthening school within intelligence, CSU is equipped with qualified and outstanding teaching faculties, among which there are 15 academicians of the Chinese academy of engineering sciences, 47 selected candidates of Thousand Talents Program, 19 chief scientists of 973 Program (2 for young scientists program), 36 invited professors from Chang Jiang Scholars Program, 7 prominent teachers as well as more than 1500 professors.Now CSU has more than 56 thousand full-time students. 
 
CSU has been active in carrying out extensive international exchanges and cooperation. It has also established a long-term cooperative partnership with more than 200 universities and researching institutions from over 20 countries such as USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Russia and so on. The university has developed a close linkage with numerous transnational businesses. Up to now, CSU is home to students from more than 106 different countries and regions.
