“Hunan’s development is amazing.”
-- Russian Ambassador to China

Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Ivanovich Denisov
“I am very happy to say hello to the people of Hunan through this Hunan media,” said Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Ivanovich Denisov in Russian-accented Mandarin during an interview.
“Hunan is the home of many outstanding figures such as Mao Zedong and Zeng Guofan. It is blessed with many scenic spots and historical sites and beautiful natural scenery,” said Denisov. Speaking of his impression of Hunan, he first mentioned Chairman Mao Zedong, followed by Hunan’s other calling cards such as Zhangjiajie and Yuelu Academy.
“It is difficult for people to associate history, culture, and beautiful scenery with an advanced industrial level, but Hunan has both,” said Denisov. He was also impressed by Hunan’s achievements in scientific and technological innovation and industrial manufacturing. Hunan, a place where tradition and modernity, nature and humanity coexist and complement each other, makes him feel this is a “magical land”.
Hunan’s economic strength has achieved a historic leap forward, with its GDP rising from 1.77 billion CNY in 1949 to 3.64 trillion CNY in 2018. Denisov praised Hunan as “a strong and prosperous province with amazing development”.
So far, Hunan has 4 pairs of sister cities with Russia and signed cooperation framework agreements with 8 Russian federal subjects along the Volga River. Denisov hoped to use these good platforms and mechanisms to increase substantive cooperation. “The Event of the MFA Presenting Hunan Province also provides a great opportunity for us to discuss in-depth cooperation. The Russian Embassy in China will try its best to promote exchanges and cooperation between Hunan and Russia,” said he.
