Tsinghua Students Experience Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage - Dabujiang Embroidered Patchwork


The Tsinghua University Academy of Arts & Design held a “teaching plus experiencing” innovative course recently to highlight intangible cultural heritage. He Juan, a Hunan provincial cultural heritage inheritor of Dabujiang embroidered patchwork, was invited to lecture for second grade students who major in dyeing and weaving.

Background information
Dabujiang embroidered patchwork, a folk art popular in south Hunan, was popular in the Ming and Qing dynasties and the Republic of China era. In 2012, it was included on the list of Hunan Provincial intangible cultural heritage items.
