Secretary Zhou Qiang Addresses the 2010 International Friendship Cities Cooperation Forum & Conference


Zhou Qiang, secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee attended the 2010 International Friendship Cities Cooperation Forum & Conference, and said that city itself is a product of human civilization and an important criterion to measure the social progress made by mankind. He also noted that the international cooperation and exchanges between sister cities should be strengthened, which conforms to the general trend of closer contacts among countries and cities as well as the global economic integration. At present, Hunan has established sister city relationship with 54 cites of 24 countries all over the world. Hunan province has intention of expanding its relationships with more cities around the world. The province intends to establish friendly cooperation relationship and friendly economic and trade partnership with 109 cities, and has already entered into relations with over 400 sister colleges and universities worldwide. All these are reliable friends and precious resource that Hunan should take pride in. With their assistance, Hunan is embracing the world and going global.


Secretary Zhou hoped that Hunan can enhance mutual understanding, promote exchanges and cooperation and seek common development with people from around the world through the sister city platform. Therefore, sister cities and sister organizations serve as a wide bridge for Hunan to gain access to the world and conduct exchange of delegates.


The time-tested friendly relationship between Hunan and its sister cities enjoy full support from the people and have resulted in closer diplomatic bonds and mutual socioeconomic development. Mr. Zhou also pledged that Hunan is willing to continue the cooperation with all sister cities, make explorations and innovations, perfect cooperative mechanism, broaden areas for cooperation, enrich the connotation of cooperation and make cooperation more effective so as to jointly create a brilliant future for amicable exchanges and practical cooperation.
