Hundreds of sailboats will compete on the Xiangjiang during the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival. This year will inaugurate the Xiangjiang Cup International Regatta and will be the first ever international regatta staged on the river of an inland city.Changsha will witness a distinctive Dragon Boat Festival. It will feature top-level sailing, a viewer-friendly environment, a grand fireworks show and interactive carnival activities.

Du Fu Pavilion
In the Pavilion, you can enjoy a bird's eye view of Orange Isle, overlook the picturesque Yuelu Mountain and appreciate the amazing landscape of Changsha. Imitating the architectural style of Tang Dynasty (618-907), the view of magnificent Pavilion is enhanced by its upturned eaves, bucket arches, carved beams and painted rafters.
Rich in stories, the old street is located in the southern part of Changsha's old town. The block is bordered by Wuyi Avenue on the north, Jiefang Road on the south, Weiguo Street on the west, and Sanxing Street and Santai Street on the east.
Yanghu Wetland Park
Yanghu Wetland Park, covering an area of 702 hectares, is the largest wetland park in south central China. The park is made up of five functional districts: wetland recreation district, wetland biodiversity exhibition district, wetland education district, ecological conservation district and river wetland district. Its construction is divided into four phases. The wetland recreation district constructed in the first and second phase has already been open to the public.
As an extended part of the mysterious Mount Hengshan range, Mount Yuelu covers a total area of 8 square kilometers with its highest peak 297 meters above sea level. There are also many peaks with exuberant trees and reclusive and precipitous mountain streams.
The most visited place during Qingming Festival in Kaifu District is the 1,000 year old Kaifu Temple.
It has become one of Buddhism’s destination resorts. The Chinese name accurately suggests it is “a place for bringing happiness”.Changshians often pray for wellbeing and prosperity here.

Duanwu Celebrations at Expo Hunan Week
Hunanese representatives attending Hunan Week, together with international friends, made zongzi, a traditional Chinese food made of glutinous rice stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo, reed, or other large flat leaves, and recited the Chinese poem Lisao written by Qu Yuan (342BC-278BC), a patriotic Chinese poet and minister of the Chu State, to celebrate the festival at Milano, Italy.
11th China (Miluo) International Dragon Boat Festival Held
On June 20, the 11th China (Miluo) International Dragon Boat Festival was held at the Dragon Boat Racing Center of Miluo. Over 100 thousand domestic and international tourists gathered on the bank of the Miluo River to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival, appreciating folk-custom and watching folk dragon boat race.
Xiangjiang Cup International Regatta 2015 Kick off in Changsha
The Xiangjiang Cup International Regatta 2015 kicked off in Changsha on June 19. Players from ten countries and regions such as United States, France, UK, Russia, Italy, China’s Hong Kong compete for the event, including Olympic seeded players and world champions.
African Students Make Zongzi on Duanwu Festival
On June 18, a day before the Dragon Boat Festival, about 39 students studying in Hunan Children’s Hospital learned to make Zongzi (a glutinous rice dumpling wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves) from the senior citizens in Changsha’s Liaojiawan Community, to experience the charm of Chinese folk customs.
Four Major Duanwu Themed Events to Be Held Along Miluo River
The 11th China (Miluo) International Dragon Boat Festival of 2015 will be held along Miluo River. During the festival, four major activities, namely the Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament, Music & Camping Festival, Happy Opera Fan and Photography Competitions will take place at the Miluo River International Dragon Boat Racing Center, to embody the theme “Folk Custom National Affection”.
Annual Dragon Boat Races Held Among Villagers along Liuyang River
On June 10, the annual dragon boat race started at Huangxing Town, the South Railway Station section of Liuyang River. Over 10 non-governmental dragon boat teams competed in the drizzle in the first round. The race will last until the Dragon Boat Festival (the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional Chinese lunar calendar, which falls on June 20 this year), by when more than 20 teams will participate.
