Deputy Secretary Wu Lan Visits South Korea, Thailand

Wu Lan, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee deputy secretary, led a delegation to visit South Korea and Thailand between May 6 and 12, 2019. She met with persons in charge of the Korean International Exchange Federation, the Saemaul Undong Central Committee, and other institutions, as well as government leaders of Gyeonggi-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea; and Chonburi, Thailand. They held talks and reached consensus on in-depth cooperation between Hunan and relevant parties in friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation. She also attended economic and cultural activities such as the signing ceremony of letter of intent on the provincial sister city establishment and international competitions collaboration.
 
Deputy Secretary Wu met with local government officials during her stay in South Korea, including Lee Cheol-woo, Gyeongsangbuk-do governor; Lee Hwa-young, Gyeonggi-do vice governor; and, Lee Seung-yool, Cheongdo-gun mayor. She hoped to strengthen exchanges between Hunan and South Korean local governments, to promote mutual exchanges and cooperation in the development of cultural and creative industries, new rural construction, and rural talent training. The South Korean counterparts said that they are willing to further promote friendly exchanges and win-win cooperation with Hunan.
 
The 2019 International E-culture Festival will be held in Changsha this year. Wu attended the signing ceremony of its joint hosting between the South Korean side and the Malanshan Video Cultural and Creative Industrial Park. She pointed out that it should be regarded as an important opportunity for Hunan cultural and creative industrial development. Hunan will strive for the long-term settlement of this international digital entertainment event in Changsha.
 
She also went to inspect rural construction in Cheongdo-gun and other places in South Korea, knowing about the training of rural grassroots cadres in South Korea, agricultural technology services, and processing of agricultural products. She remarked that South Korea has advanced agricultural product processing idea and technology, especially its experience of private household primary processing of agricultural products is worth learning. Hunan will learn and bring in these valuable experiences, she added.
 
While in Thailand, she met with Phakkhrathon Thianchai, Chonburi governor, and other Thailand governmental leaders. She signed a letter of intent with the Chonburi government to establish a friendly provincial relationship and witnessed the signing of Zhangjiajie-Pattaya Friendship and Cooperation Agreement. She also presided over the Hunan “going global” enterprise symposium, emphasizing that enterprises should help each other, solve problems, seize opportunities, and accelerate development. She hoped that they will continue to fulfill their social responsibilities, effectively protecting employees' personal assets and safety, and create good image of Hunan merchants.
