The 2019 Cross-Strait Chinese Traditional Culture and Modernization Symposium opened in Changsha on May 14. More than 100 publishing personnel discussed the present and the future of publishing and media industry in the digital era.

The symposium was hosted by the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD), and the Ye Shengtao Research Association of China (YRAC). Cai Dafeng, vice chairman of the Chinese National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, CAPD Chair, and YRAC Chairman, addressed the opening ceremony.

Participants from the mainland and Taiwan exchanged views on copyright introduction, and publishing exchange. During the three-day symposium, themed speeches were given in groups to analyse experience and development of the publishing industry, and discuss ways to jointly push forward Chinese culture inheritance and promotion.

The Cross-Strait Chinese Traditional Culture and Modernization Symposium was initiated by CAPD in 2002, and entered its 7th session this year. It focuses on the topics of regional characteristic culture, disciplinary culture, and folk culture, in a bid to facilitate cultural communication between the mainland and Taiwan, and promote Chinese culture.
