Recently, the Contemporary Chinese Fiber Art, organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Chile and the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC), opened at UC’s main campus gallery.
A total of 39 works were displayed at the contemporary Chinese textile art exhibition. Some of them were created by teachers and students from 15 art schools such as the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, the China Academy of Fine Arts, and Hunan Arts and Crafts Vocational College (HACVC), and Chinese traditional and contemporary textile masters.
HACVC’s nine Xiang embroidery works were on display.
These nine works were jointly designed and embroidered by 30 teachers and students, including "Grandma's Craftsmanship" and "Six Horses". They were created based on the original works of the college’s professors, visiting professors and well-known painters. Various art forms such as watercolors and oil paintings were adopted. The embroiderers used Xiang embroidery stitches and coloring threads to recreate those works in a vivid and exquisite way, while conveying the essence of Xiang embroidery.
Many international friends viewed and took pictures with the works. Since 2012, HACVC’s Xiang embroidery works have been selected into the Contemporary Chinese Fiber Art. Over the past seven years, the college has participated in four international tour exhibitions.
