The German Zurbruggen Group China headquarters project, with a total investment of 2.1 billion CNY, has officially started construction on the banks of beautiful Yanghu Lake in the Xiangjiang New Area, Changsha City on May 14, 2018. This is the first foreign enterprise to establish its China headquarters in Hunan. Before the opening ceremony, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee Secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee Director Du Jiahao met with Zurbruggen Group President Christian Zurbrüggen.

Zurbruggen Group is a well-known century-old German enterprise which deals primarily in high-end European furniture, household goods, and supermarkets. It is currently one of Germany's largest office and household goods suppliers. In October 2015, Secretary Du led a delegation to visit Germany and signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation with the Zurbruggen Group to develop its headquarters in Hunan, and to build the Hunan-Europe Express Line. In January 2017, the Zurbruggen Group and the Xiangjiang New Area signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement confirmed that the Zurbruggen Group China headquarters will be located in Changsha. According to the plan, its total construction area will be about 200,000 square meters. It will be completed, accepted, and put into operation in 2021.

Upon completion, the headquarters will be focus on Zurbruggen home furnishings, introducing many well-known brands from Germany and elsewhere in Europe to Hunan. Changsha citizens will also experience authentic German restaurants, beer, German-style shopping streets and boutique apartments.
