Executive Vice Governor Chen Xiangqun Inspects Nanshan National Park Pilot Program

CPC Hunan Provincial Standing Committee member and Executive Vice Governor Chen Xiangqun visited Chengbu Miao Autonomous County of Shaoyang City on 11 October, 2017, to inspect the Nanshan National Park pilot program.

Listed as one of the ten parks chosen to trial national park systems in a pilot program, the Nanshan National Park integrates four scenic areas of Nanshan National Scenic Area, Liangjiang Valley National Forest Park, Jintong Mountain National Natural Reserve, and Baiyun Lake National Wetland Park.

Chen visited the hundreds of ancient natural wetland conservation area, the Nanshan Pasture, the Nanshan E-business Service Station, and the Nanshan Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., to learn about the scenic area infrastructure planning, tourism revenue, and enterprise development.

He pointed out that the pilot program for establishing national park is an important initiative by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to promote ecological civilization. It was significant for protecting the originality, naturality, and integrity of natural resources.

He called for thoroughly studying and practicing President Xi Jinping’s important addresses on ecological civilization construction; earnestly implementing the central government overall plan on the pilot programs for the national park system; and, further clarifying Hunan’s specific approaches, to ensure the successful completion of the tasks.

He said, “Great efforts should be made to renew thinking mode, give priority to protection, focus on management, strengthen the top-level design, and coordinate protection and development.” “We should further clarify orientation, responsibilities, and tasks of the national park building, to better protect it. We should arrange detailed regulations and plans for the four scenic areas to promote their distinctive features. We should bring forth institutional mechanisms and management measures to ensure all the work operate in an orderly manner.” He added.
