Hunan Customs announced that Hunan’s total foreign trade volume reached 141.91 billion yuan by August, up 62.2% over the same January-August period of last year. Exports increased 61.3% to 90.64 billion yuan. Imports rose 63.8% to 51.27 billion yuan. In August, the provincial total foreign trade volume was 22.54 billion yuan, up by 47.5%.
In the first eight months, electromechanical products exports totaled 41.76 billion yuan, a 74% increase and accounting for 46.1% of the provincial total. Exports of high-tech products rose by 98.2% to 13.18 billion yuan.
Electromechanical and high-tech products remained the major import goods. Between January and August, electromechanical product imports were 22.87 billion yuan, an increase of 71.3% and accounted for 44.6% of the provincial total. High-tech products imports were 8.39 billion yuan, up by 110%. Iron ore and concentrate imports grew 44.8% to 7.35 billion yuan. Integrated circuits imports surged 310% to 2.7 billion yuan.
