Hu Biao is now the chairman of Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and secretary of the Leading Pary Members' Group.
Hu Biao, a Han Chinese and native of Shaoyang, Hunan Province, was born in 1947. He started to work in August, 1965 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Feb. 1966. He then successively worked as member of the Siqing working group in Wugang County, cadre of the organs of Shaoyang City CPC Committee, secretary of the China Communist Youth League Committee of Chengxi People's commune, and chief secretary of the working group of Shaoyang City Revolutionary Committee. After 1970, he successively held the posts of director of Shaoyang City Revolutionary Committee and the CPC Shaoyang Municipal Committee, deputy director and director of Shaoyang Agriculture Office, vice-secretary of the Suburban CPC Committee, director of the working committee, deputy director of the office of policy research office of Tibet Autonomous Region CPC Committee, secretary-general of Shaoyang City government, secretary-general of Shaoyang City CPC Committee, member of the standing committee of the CPC Shaoyang Municipal Committee, vice-mayor of Shaoyang City, member of the CPC Huaihua Prefectural Committee, vice commissioner of Huaihua Prefecture Administrative Office, secretary of the CPC Huaihua Prefectural Committee, member of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, secretary-general of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, vice-secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, alternate member of the 16th Central Committee of the CPC, member of the 10th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
